Kiera McCabe, Founder
I'm Kiera McCabe, a 1st generation farmer dedicated to growing traditional foods for the community.
My clans are táchii'nii nishłį, bilagáana bashíshchíín, hashk'aan hadzohí dashicheii, bilagáana dashinálí.
I'm a beginner farmer with 3 years of hands-on field experience. I'm currently in my senior year completing a bachelor's degree at Fort Lewis College, where I'm majoring in Sociology and Human Services and minoring in both Business Administration and Native American & Indigenous Studies. I'm also earning a certificate in Regenerative Food Systems. In 2024, I was honored to participate in the Bidii Baby Foods Farmer-in-Residence program, which created the opportunity to learn and continue my own farming operation.
My Story
I grew up as a military child, constantly moving across the country and adapting to many new places. It wasn't until I arrived at Fort Lewis College that I truly discovered my connection to the land through farming. Drawn to the opportunity to learn the foundations of agriculture at the Old Fort, I found joy and empowerment in growing food and learning to be self-sufficient. Inspired by my family's legacy and following in my great-grandfather's footsteps, I set my heart on returning to the Navajo Nation to farm on tribal land. I reached out to Bidii Baby Foods LLC. I was accepted into their Farmer in Rezidence Program, where I gained the knowledge and mentorship needed to launch my own farming operation. Now, I am on a mission to create nourishing, on-the-go snacks made with traditional corn. These snacks are designed for college students, blue-collar workers, athletes, children, and anyone leading a busy life. Through my work, I am not only honoring my roots but also sharing the power of Indigenous foods with the world.
